No Funding for State National Leadership Meeting
No Funding for State National Leadership MeetingPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): January 22, 2010 – During the Second Special Session of the 16th Congress, Congressional Resolution No. 16-60 was passed which requested President Mori to convene a State National Leadership Conference in Pohnpei during the upcoming Second Regular Session of Congress. The conference was called to address and resolve any concerns and/or problems relating to the refinement of the FSM Strategic Development Plan, the performance of the FSM Trust Fund, the usage of the Supplemental Education Grant, and the tax reform project that is in the works. Although President Mori agrees with the need for a nation-wide leadership meeting, he has informed Speaker Figir that there is no money in the current budget to fund a convening of the State National Leadership Conference and he hopes that FSM Executive and Legislative Branches can work together and find a way to fund this important event.
