Pohnpei State Celebrates Liberation Day

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service). Pohnpei State is observing Wednesday, September 11, 1996, as Liberation Day. It is a State legal holiday, according to a September 9, 1996 memorandum issued to all department, office and agency heads signed by Vice President Jacob Nena.

Pursuant to applicable regulations, it has been declared that it is in the best interest of all that National Government employees participate in any activities Pohnpei State Government may have on that day.

Therefore, all department and agency heads of the National Government are urged to grant administrative leave to employees under their supervision so that they may participate in any activity for that day without loss of pay, Nena concluded.
