Seventh special session of 15th Congress set for March 16Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Congress): March 13, 2009 – Congress members were polled for the session and in accordance with the Rules of Procedures of the FSM Congress two-third or 10 members were in favor of a special session, therefore the Seventh Special Session of Congress will convene for 10-days beginning Monday, March 16, 2009. The special session is expected to address those issues that are outstanding or remain pending before the 15th Congress. Speaker Figir wrote to President Manny Mori informing him of the special session and encouraged active participation by the Executive Branch during the course of the session, “this may be the last session of the 15th Congress so I hope that you make available your key people for we will be counting on their assistance in providing information to make this 10 days special session a successful one.” The sessions of Congress, as always, are open to the general public.
