Shenhar named FSM’s Honorary Consul in Israel

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): January 22, 2004 – On January 13 2004, President Joseph J. Urusemal officially recognized Shimon Shenhar as the Honorary Consul for the Federated States of Micronesia in the State of Israel.

Honorary Consul Shenhar is Israel’s first appointee to the FSM since establishing diplomatic relations in November 1988. Aside from the Pacific Island countries, Israel was the second international country to officially establish diplomatic relations with FSM, United States was the first. The State of Israel’s Honorary Consul in the FSM is Reed Oliver whose duties were officially honored in October 2003.

Known all men by these presents, pursuant to the authority vested in me by Article X of the Constitution and Title 10 of the Code of the Federated States of Micronesia, and in accordance with Chapter III of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, I hereby authorize and issue this Commission for:

Mr. Shimon Shenhar
Honorary Consul
of the Federated States of Micronesia
in the State of Israel

In this respect, I request the authorities concerned to acknowledge and give credence to this appointment so that he may have the occasion to carry out his duties and functions.

In witness thereof, I have caused this letter to be made patent, and hereunto affix the seal of the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia.
