Upcoming Calendar of Events for the National Department of Education

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): January 11, 2011 – Secretary Casiano Shoniber of the National Department of Education (NDOE) has submitted the following calendar of events, covering the period from January through March, 2011:

1. January 17 – 21 National Close-Up Program Pohnpei
2. January 17- 21 1st FSM Scholarship Conference Pohnpei
3. February 01 – 5 FSM Principal Institute III Chuuk
4. February 23 – 25 FACSSO* Meeting 2011 Yap
5. March 08 – 11 FSM TVET Conf. (Vocational Education) Pohnpei
6. March 21 – 25 FSM History Resource Development Chuuk

In January, other priority activities are on-going, principally to fulfill the Amended Compact grant requirements, including the development of action plans by each of the FSM States’ Department of Education and by the NDOE, in response to the job audits conducted on each entity in 2010.

Additionally, a committee consisting of the Vocational Education Program staff from the states and the Bridging Gaps specialist, Wilson Kephas, from NDOE, are finalizing a strategy plan and a draft policy for a grant pertaining to a National Vocational Education Program.
