US/FSM Joint Committee on Security and Defense to Meet

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): November 19,
1997 – The FSM is hosting a meeting of the US/FSM Joint Committee
on Security and Defense, today, on November 18, 1997, in the FSM
Department of External Affairs’ Conference Room, in Palikir,
according to a November 13, 1997, letter from FSM Vice President to
all state governors.

The proposed agenda for the meeting include Civic Aviation Team
Briefing; Humanitarian Excess Property; Humanitarian Assistance
Program; Trippler Army Medical Center Support to the FSM; Recruitment
of FSM citizens into the U.S. Armed Forces; U.S. Coast Guard
Activities in FSM; Disaster Response in FSM and EOD procedures and
support, according to the letter.

Falcam invited involved department and offices to submit their
comments on the proposed agenda to the Department of External Affairs
which is coordinating the preparations for the meeting.
