Workshop on Women in Politics to be held in Pohnpei

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): June 8, 2009 – The Department of Health and Social Affairs is co-hosting a workshop with UNIFEM on Women in Politics and Women Stand Up for Election, 13-23 July 2009 in Pohnpei. The UNIFEM Office in Suva, Fiji is funding for four participants from each of the four FSM States to attend this workshop.

The objectives of this workshop are:

  1. To promote better communication on gender affairs to EMB (Election Management Body/ies)

  2. To advocate for a better way for women to understand the election processes and develop strategies to promote women’s participation;

  3. To provide a networking opportunity for women’s advocacy groups; and

  4. To provide a networking opportunity for women’s advocacy groups.
