Basketball Development Coach to Visit Yap and Chuuk

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM INFORMATION SERVICE), November 22, 1996 – The FSM office of Youth and Sports, Department of Health Services announces that basketball development workshops will be held in Chuuk and Yap states from November 27 to December 11, 1996 according to Jim Tobin, FSM Sports Director.

Jon Hoyle, Development Officer, Oceania Basketball Confederation, will be holding basketball workshops in Chuuk from Wednesday, November 27 to Tuesday, December 3rd. Mr. Hoyle will visit Yap from December 4 to December 11, 1996.

The basketball workshops are sponsored by the Oceania Basketball Confederation, of which the FSM is a member. Mr. Hoyle’s basketball experience includes serving as head coach for the gold medal-winning Tahiti men’s and women’s national basketball teams at last year’s South Pacific Games in Tahiti. Mr. Hoyle will also assist the FSM Amateur Sports Association organization of the 2nd FSM Games basketball competition in Kosrae next year.
