Chuuk Legislature Adopts Resolution Requesting Governor Umwech to ResignPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): February 5, 1997 – Chuuk Governor Marcellino Umwech was requested to resign as Governor of his State. The Chuuk Legislature’s House Joint Resolution No. 3-96-HJR-22, adopted by both Houses in the 1996 Second Special Session of the Third Chuuk Legislature, a copy was received by the Office of the FSM President in Palikir on February 4, 1997, “…humbly requested the Governor to resign,” according to President’s Special Assistant for Legislative matters, Tony Otto.
