FSM Signs Two Optional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the ChildNew York (FSM Permanent Mission to the UN): May 9, 2002 – The signing took place at a brief ceremony in the United Nations with the Chief of the United Nations Treaty Section Mr. Palitha T. B. Kohona present. Also in attendance were several officials from UNICEF and Mr. Martin Zvachula, staff member of the FSM Permanent Mission to the United Nations and official United Nations photographers. The signing of the two optional protocols precedes the statement of Mrs. Iris G. Falcam, First Lady of the Federated States of Micronesia, who is scheduled to address the 27th Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Children today, 9 May 2002.
