President Falcam sends congratulations to US on 224th independence anniversaryPOHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): July 2000 – President Leo A. Falcam has sent his congratulations to the United States on it 224th Independence anniversary. In a letter to American President Bill Clinton, President Falcam congratulated the United States and expressed his sincere wishes. “On the occasion of your esteemed country’s 224th Independence Anniversary, I would like to take this opportunity to extend, on behalf of the government and people of the Federated States of Micronesia, our most sincere wishes for continued good health and prosperity to you and the American people,” wrote President Falcam. On July 4, 1776, 13 British colonies located along the Atlantic coast after a period of political unrest caused by English colonial policy, culminated into a revolution that lasted from 1775 to 1783. They declared their independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, in a document called the Declaration of Independence. They became the United States of America.
